What Makes The Travel Trends in 2017?
1. Millennials
Those who have age between the years of 1980 and 2000 are known as the world's younger generation, or commonly called "millennials". They are the largest generation and a vital portion in the traveling industry, which takes 40% of leisure travelers.
Millennials is considered as an important target market for tourism in the year of 2017. They have been born in a technology era; therefore millennials are like a major connection between the world to the social media and be taking advantages of themselves to attracts views, comments and shares from the others travelers. They make reservations through websites, search the information, check-in/out or approach any other forms of online activities all for the travelling purpose.

The type of trips have been shown in their names. People tend to prefer trips that are risky yet energetic, which contain more sense of exploring and challenging. The activities are diverse that can mention such as hiking, trekking, kayaking, scuba diving, bungee jumping, mountain biking, etc.
2017 is being more considered as the year for YOLO slogan which means You Only Live Once; therefore more travelers are now looking for experiential trips that give them once-in-a-lifetime adventurous feeling.

- A fascinating reality is that travelers of adventurous trips are slightly female (53%) in which 45% of them are those who have the age of 50 years and above.
- The destinations of trip have the most vote are in the North and South America; and the trend has been still moving forward.
3. Solo Female Travelers
The number of female travelers has been increased recently, the notable thing is that they travel solo whoever they are married, single or divorced. They choose either leisure travel or adventurous travel, they want to prove their independence and their courage, they desire of exploring and experience.
According to a survey of Booking.com included five countries which are United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia and Germany has revealed that 72% of American women chose to travel solo.

4. Mobile photography
Nowadays, mobile phone is very popular so it is common to
see people are waiting to have chances to capture their memories. As you can
see one of the best ways to memorize your trip is through pictures. Travelers
not only take pictures but also upload them to social media (Photo uploads on Facebook total 300 million per day, Source: Gizmodo). They
want to share their experiences to their friends, their family or even the people
they do not know in the way as cool as possible.
Tour operator and travel companies can take advantages of
this trend and make more photo stops on their tour and the tour guide can help
customers to take pictures throughout the trip. Moreover, they can offer the
mobile photography trips, for instance Amsterdam tour by Dutchie. Besides, they should create
their unique #hashtag so that customers can share their experiences on Facebook, Instagram and simultaneously promote for their brand. It helps them connect
with other people around the world.

5. Business and Leisure Travel
The mixture between business trip and leisure time becomes
“bleisure”. Business travelers often spend more time after their work to
release stress. According to a recent survey of Booking.com 49% of business
travelers take more time to explore their destination especially travelers
between 20 to 25 years old.
Moreover, not
everyone chooses to spend their “bleisure” trips alone, they can bring their
family members, their friends along for the ride. This is a great chance to
create more memories together and get closer to your beloved ones.

plans for selling tickets, hotel
reservations and tours for travelers like day tour or 2 day tour which is
suitable for their schedule.
6. Food tourism
It is also known as culinary tourism. The
growth of food tourism worldwide is an obvious fact. Since a long time ago, nobody
can deny that food is one of the most aspects that tourists are expected when
they go travel and is a way that people can know more about these as well. However,
nowadays more and more experiences in food tourism that travelers have through
many new forms like farm tours, cooking courses and local traditional markets. All
of these food forms that have been emerging inherent in their destinations
cultures, climates, customs and habits.
According to UNWTO, it shows that “88.2% of
respondents consider that gastronomy is a strategic element in defining the
brand and image of their destination.” It is necessary for operators to provide
the food that connect closely to culture of a city.

7. Responsible Tourism
Nowadays people more and more focus on the
environment when they are travelling. They are aware of the results of what
they are doing on their natural environment. When it come to responsible
tourism people think about these terms “ecotourism” and “green tourism” and
tour businesses should concern that “better places to live in and to visit”- a
place that brings benefits for local people to live and travelers to visit.

1- My opinion on fisrt question, I prefer the active and adventure trips. I like to do things always different and I want to make each trips in my life memorable. I love to do some adventurous trips so that we will be very active and engaged in our trip. So i prefer active and adventure trips.
2- I think all of these travel fashions will last long,because in this modern world people want to do things in better way. All these seven trends can help travelers to make their journey memorable and satisfying.

For the first question, i prefer mobile photography trend. As a person who loves travelling and taking selfie, i would like to use my phone to capture every moment of my trip. Yes, you are true. Taking a picture and posting it on social media immediately to share your every single moment with your friends and family is one of the great thing that cellphone can do but not camera. And mobile photography is more convenient for travelers than a camera also. :)

These days people spend thousands and thousands on trying various cuisines and types. Trying different kind of food is not less than an adventure itself. To be honest in such a fast moving world, which is under ongoing development every single minute, the travelling trends will change for sure. Due to increasing technology, traveling will become more easy, safe, comfortable and affordable. Though these listed trends might last longer due to the era of millenniums.

Personally I am always attracted by food :) I am so excited when try a new cuisine or a famous food trend that I never try before.Some food you like a lot, some food you can not try, but the important thing that when it comes to that kind of food, you will think about the land that you've experienced immediately.
I really enjoy reading your blog it was interesting. First, actually i will prefer two trends rather than one trend. Sorry for not follow your question that you are giving in this blog, because learning to become a chef one day in the future both of them are connected. So i will prefer mobile photography trend and food tourism trend. As we all know different cultural they have their unique recipe. For some travellers went to the country just for trying their food and take pictures to keep as a unforgettable memories as well as share photos on social media. Taking for those food pictures it giving information like how they dishes look like and the taste of the dished, so could keep you remember the flavor of the food you tasted before. First, I prefer solo female travel concept because if I go on a trip with friends or family, we can hold differing points and wate time to make decision. However, if I travel alone, I do not need to care frineds or family, and I can enjoy by myself. I would like to try solo travel in a few years. Secondly, I think that all of travel trends is likely to be last long. In recent years, many people would like to enjoy as their travel style not typical travel trends like going to only famous attractions or just following someone.

As mentioned this kind of traveling has “sense of exploring and challenging”; therefore, I can discover my potential and strength. It is also completely different from our daily basic, which attracts and inspires me much more than anything else.
2) I think all of the travel trends that you mentioned would last long. Some of them have just start to be engaged in such as responsible tourism, solo female travelers, and active and adventure trips, which inspire more and more travelers day by day. Besides, many trends have already plays the important part such as food tourism and mobile photography. Most of people like to capture all their memorable travel moments and immerse themselves in the diverse culinary.

About the adventurous trips, as we mentioned in our post, it is nowadays being chosen by many female travelers; therefore it would be great if you had a chance to make your own trip, and hope that we could get together on our adventure journey in the near future.
The trend that I prefer is food tourism or culinary tourism. Personally, whenever I travel to different countries, the first thing that I go for is trying out the their food. It is interesting to know what kind of food there is, because countries have different ingredients and ways of cooking food. Also, it can help me develop my culinary knowledge which is important in hospitality department.

The trend that i will prefer the most is tourism because i myself love travelling different places of the world. Every time i get free time i went for travelling to various adventurous trips with my friends. I loved this blog because they they have all the adventures in travelling. People love trekking these days and they go to different trekking places just to refresh their mind.

Unlike tour trip, active and adventure travel gives more excitements about the world because we can explore and experience new places on our own ways. Slogan YOLO influences us to be even more active for adventurous feelings. Being active in doing things always makes you more interested than arranged traditional tour trips. Therefore, I'd love to go for active and adventure trips.

Marketers now can accurately define each segment and learn from the data and devise respective strategies. In fact, many of the trends are intertwined. For example, Sarah is a young millennial lady who loves to travel on her own and her particular interest is on adventure tours. She likes taking photo on her phone and post it and share on Instagram. Also, more internet transparency would encourage more solo travelers especially among female who requires more safety. As technology advances and the world is becoming more closely connected, more trends will follow and develop in time.

I think it is smart for travelling companies to place their investment based on current trends because that would attract a large amount of customers, equaling more revenue. Besides, although trends keep changing, travelling corporations can always find what is appealing to guests to make the best return of their money.

ReplyDeleteI liked the food and millennial trend because it related to me the most. I love food, as we all do, but I am actually really picky. I am not the type to try new things, especially if the ingredients consist of something I know I do not like. I am not the biggest risk taker when it comes to food. However, for those types of food that I do know I love, I could eat all day. Therefore, I would prefer the millennial trend.
I believe that majority of the trends mentioned in the blog would last a long time because they are trends that no matter what happens, will always be around for the most part. For example, the solo female traveler trend is popular now because times have begun to change for the last decade and women are more and more independent and enjoy their alone time. That is going to increase with the newer generations. Also, the business traveler, is another trend that wont simply vanish because there are always going to businesses and unless they find a new way to deal with international business that doesn't include having to travel, until then we will always see business travelers and lots of them.
